How to impress your family at Xmas dinner with AI

Become an AI Finance Leader in 2026

I am soon closing the waiting list for our 6-week hands-on live bootcamp.

If you want to become the AI champion of your company, this is for you:

So, you're about to spend the holidays with your family. And at some point, someone's going to ask what you've been up to.

You could say "work's busy" and watch them nod politely.

Or... you could show them something that makes them say "wait, HOW did you do that?!"

This is why today’s newsletter is a bit different.

My goal is to help you spread the use of AI. Not just at work, but everywhere. I want to help you become an AI evangelist, to help you spread the word and to look good in front of your family (without bothering you with work stuff over the holidays).

Here are 5 AI tricks that will make you the most interesting person at Christmas dinner.

Plus, most of these tricks are completely free.

1. The MCQ Movie Chooser (End the "What Should We Watch?" Debate)

You know this situation. It's 8pm. Everyone's finished dinner, a someone suggests watching a movie.

Then you spend 45 minutes scrolling Netflix while people say "I don't mind" and "whatever you want" until someone just falls asleep.

Or worse, you pick something and halfway through, someone says "I'm not really feeling this" and now you've got a fight on your hands about whose turn it is to choose.

Instead of this, let AI interview you using MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions) to figure out exactly what everyone actually wants to watch.

I use this all the time to find films for me and my wife. And it works really well.

Here's how:

Open any AI chatbot (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini - doesn't matter which).

Use this prompt:

I need help choosing a movie to watch tonight. Please interview me using multiple choice questions (MCQ format) to understand what I'm in the mood for.
Ask me 5-7 questions, one at a time. Wait for my answer before asking the next question.
After the questions, recommend 3 specific movies with brief explanations of why each matches my preferences.

When you do this together. The discussion about the MCQ options is usually faster (and much more fun) than endless scrolling.

This impresses people, because it shows AI isn't just about generating text. It's about having a structured conversation where the AI learns, and you learn at the same time.

2. Build a Family Quiz App in 5 Minutes (No Coding Required)

Christmas dinner is finished. People are full. Someone suggests a quiz.

Usually this means asking Google "Christmas quiz questions" while everyone waits.

Not this time ;)

This year, you're going to BUILD an actual quiz app that runs itself. With questions you customize. In about 5 minutes.

Here's how:

1. Go to Gemini either online, or on your phone (the free version works fine)

2. Enable Canvas by clicking the options / tool menu button below the chat.

3. Important - Make sure Gemini is in Thinking mode (not Fast)

4. Use this prompt:

Create a funny Christmas family trivia quiz app with 100 questions. Make it interactive with:
- Multiple choice questions about Christmas traditions, movies, and songs
- A score tracker
- Festive styling
- Fun feedback messages when people get answers right or wrong
Build this as a single HTML file that I can run right now on my phone.

After Gemini builds it, you can ask it to change questions, add family inside jokes, or adjust the difficulty.

Example: "Add a question about the time Uncle Dave fell asleep during Christmas lunch in 2019"

This will impress your family, because you just built a functioning app in minutes.

And when someone asks "how did you make this?" you can show them the whole process in real-time.

Pro tip - If you’re using your phone, Gemini can be a bit buggy on Android. You can achieve the same results using Claude. Use the same prompt as above, except modify it to say “Create this as an Artifact that I can run right now.” (Artifacts are the containers Claude uses to run code, create docs etc).

3. Create a Custom Christmas Song About Your Family

This is one of my favourites. I found it after my daughter was playing DJ on my phone and couldn’t find a song to play next. So we asked ChatGPT.

But ChatGPT didn’t look for a new song, it actually went on asking more questions and instead of giving her an example for a well known song to play… it wrote the lyrics of a song.

So we asked ChatGPT how we can turn this into a song.

ChatGPT gave us Suno as an example tool.

30 seconds after, we created a free account, uploaded the text in the app and chose our style.

Minutes later, my daughter became the first person in the family to make a song! And she loved it! It was so good. Could even compete with Taylor Swift!

Here’s how you can do it.

NBO - AI Christmas Song - Watch Video

Step 1: Write the lyrics (ChatGPT)

Open ChatGPT and use this prompt:

I want to create a Christmas song about my family. Here are some details:
- Family members: [list names]
- Funny moments from this year: [list 2-3 things]
- Running family jokes: [list 1-2 inside jokes]
- Overall vibe: [heartwarming / funny / both]
Please write lyrics for a 2-minute Christmas song in the style of [modern pop / classic Christmas / acoustic]. Include a verse, chorus, and bridge.

Step 2: Turn lyrics into music (Suno)

  1. Go to Suno.com (or download the app on your phone)
  2. Click "Custom" at the top to give more options.
  3. Paste your lyrics into the text box
  4. In "Style of Music," describe what you want: "Upbeat Christmas pop with bells" or "Acoustic guitar Christmas ballad"
  5. Click "Create"

Suno will generate a full track for you.

Step 3: Play it at dinner

Download the song. Play it during dessert or after dinner.

This impresses people because it’s not something you can easily do without AI.

A custom song with professional-quality music in 15 minutes? This is super cool.

4. ChatGPT Advanced Voice as Your Christmas Comedian

So now, you are sitting around after dinner and the conversation is slowing down. Someone needs to keep the energy up.

Enter: ChatGPT Advanced Voice.

This is the feature where you talk to ChatGPT, and it talks back to you in a really realistic way.

Here's how to use it:

  1. Open ChatGPT on your phone
  2. Tap the waveform icon (bottom right)
  3. Say: "Tell me some Christmas jokes. After each joke, wait for me to react before telling the next one."

ChatGPT will tell a joke. You laugh (or not). Then it tells another.

You can even ask it to:

  • "Roast my friend gently about their terrible cooking"
  • "Pretend you're a sports commentator narrating Christmas dinner"
  • "Tell the story of how Santa got stuck in our chimney, but make it dramatic"

The voice is natural. The timing is good. And it responds to your reactions in real-time.

This impresses people because most people still think AI is just typing into a box. When they hear you having an actual conversation with it, and it's funny and responsive, this is when they realize how far this technology has come.

5. Create Festive Images with Gemini

You know those AI-generated images everyone shares online? The ones that look like they came from a professional designer?

You can make those. Right now. On your phone.

Google built image generation directly into Gemini, and they call it "Nano Banana" (yes, really) - although, you might just see an image of a banana in your view.

Here's how:

  1. Open Gemini (mobile app or web)
  2. Select the ‘Create Images’ with the banana icon from your tool menu
  3. Type a description of what you want to create
  4. Bonus: ask Gemini to write “Happy holidays” “Merry Xmas”

A few prompts for you to try:

A cozy Christmas living room with a decorated tree, fireplace, and snow falling outside the window, warm lighting, photorealistic.
A funny illustration of a cat wearing a Santa hat and sunglasses, sitting at a Christmas dinner table, cartoon strip with joke text.
A winter landscape with northern lights over a snowy forest, magical and peaceful, digital art.

Gemini will generate the image in seconds.

Make it personal: Describe your actual Christmas scene, inside jokes, or create funny versions of family members.

This impresses people because the images look professional. They look like someone spent hours designing them. But you created them in 30 seconds with a sentence.

Plus, Gemini is now really good at generating accurate text (this was always a big issue with AI image generation) you can ask it to generate images with words too.

The prompt I used:

Turn this image into a Christmas scene with hyper-realistic Elfs building AI calculators on the desk, with the text, "Happy Christmas from Nicolas" at the top.

Note: Video generation (Veo) isn't available in the free version of Gemini yet, but images alone are impressive enough for Christmas dinner.

Not Just Party Tricks

So, you've got 5 ways to impress your family:

  1. End movie debates with MCQ interviews
  2. Build a quiz app in minutes
  3. Create a custom Christmas song
  4. Have ChatGPT be your comedian
  5. Generate festive images on demand

But these are not just party tricks.

These are examples of what happens when you understand that AI isn't about replacing you. It's about helping you do things you couldn't do before.

Or do things you could do, but way faster.

You're not a coder, but you built an app. You're not a musician, but you created a song. You're not a designer, but you generated professional images.

And when your family sees this, some of them will be impressed by the technology.

But the smart ones? They'll be impressed by you. Because you figured out how to use it.

So this Christmas, don't just talk about AI. Show people what it can do.

And hopefully, you'll inspire someone else at that dinner table to try something new in 2026.

Best,

Your AI Finance Expert,

Nicolas

P.S. - If you try any of these, hit reply and let me know how it goes. I love hearing about which one gets the best reaction (I'm betting on the custom song).
