How you can use this AI function to make better slides

Hi [FIRST NAME GOES HERE],

If you know me, you know that I love explaining complex financial problems with easy-to-understand infographics.

It’s also why my infographics have taken off on LinkedIn — clear, visual, and made for real-world finance pros.

But a few weeks ago, ChatGPT dropped its new image generation tools, and my first thought was: "Well, there goes my competitive advantage."

But after digging in, I realized something important:

This isn’t a threat — it’s a massive opportunity, especially for us in Finance!

Today, I want to show you 3 simple ways you can use this tech to become visual storytellers, without needing to be graphic designers.

Right before we jump into all of this, I want to let you know about Part 4 of the AI for Finance Series coming up.

Is GenAI your unfair advantage yet? Or are you still stuck on the sidelines?

I’m teaming up with David Wieseneck for Part 4 of our AI for Finance series on May 12, 2025, and you’re invited.

ChatGPT Image Generation: What It Is & Why CFOs Should Care

It’s now the best tool to translate complex financial concepts into tailor-made visuals in seconds.

What it can do:

  • Generate high-resolution images in styles that range from photorealistic to sleek infographics
  • Edit, upscale, or resize existing visuals without design software
  • Support corporate branding by matching fonts, palettes, and logos

Key benefits for finance teams

  • Speed & cost: get instant output instead of long searches for stock photos or back and forth with a design team
  • Clarity: turn dense presentation slides into intuitive graphics that your executives grasp at a glance
  • Customization: lock visuals to brand guidelines so every deck feels “on message.”

Limitations to note

  • You may need an extra pass if the text in the image is tiny (AI still misspells occasionally).
  • It’s a visual aid, not a replacement for real BI charts or live dashboards.

⚙️ Prompt framework you can steal from me:

Use my framework and you will get images that are 10 times better than your peers:

Start by stating the Context (who you are, the goal, and the audience), then specify the Subject you want visualised, layer on the desired Intent/Instruction (layout, colours, dimensions, style), and finish with any Format (brand palette, file type, aspect ratio).

Example formula in a sentence:

“I’m a SaaS CFO preparing a Series B deck; create a clean 16:9 infographic that compares best-, base-, and worst-case revenue for 2026, using navy headers, coral highlights, our logo top-left (see attached), and icons for each KPI; keep text legible for a conference screen
Here are the KPIs:
Revenue: best case: $10M profit, base: $8M, worst: $5M)
Profit: best case: $4M profit, base: $3M, worst: $2M)”

Follow up with short tweaks (“brighter icons”, “swap navy for teal”) until it nails the story.

💻 Three finance-ready examples you can copy today

#1: Pitch-deck

Prompt:

"Create a fundraising slide titled 'Use of Funds & Milestones'. Timeline from Q2 2024 to Q4 2025. Mark 5 points: Product Release, Hiring Key Roles, CAC Optimization, Revenue Expansion, Series A. Add icons for each (lightbulb, people, chart, rocket, funding bag). Style: modern SaaS, light background, hex blue + gray tones, clean labels, clear spacing for each event."

Result:

#2: Forecast Walkthrough Flowchart

Prompt:

"Create a flowchart that maps out how key inputs influence our financial forecast.

Inputs (Forecast Drivers):
- Pricing Strategy (e.g., raising prices by 5%)
- Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC) (e.g., $150 per new customer)
- Churn Rate (e.g., 8% monthly)
- Market Expansion Timing (e.g., Q3 rollout)

Outcome Metric:
- Revenue Forecast

Instructions:

  1. Show directional relationships (e.g., “↑ Churn → ↓ Revenue”).
  2. Include short annotations or numerical examples: - “+10% in churn = -$1.2M in annual revenue” - “$10 CAC reduction = +5K more customers”
  3. Style the diagram with clean, modern formatting (boxes + arrows).
  4. Use color coding if possible (green for positive effects, red for negative).
  5. Add a brief caption: “Visualizing how pricing, CAC, churn, and market timing impact our revenue projections.”

Result:

#3: Client-Branded Monthly Dashboard

Prompt:

Create a clean, modern SaaS-style monthly finance dashboard for Acme Co.

Display the following KPIs:
Revenue: $160K (+8% vs last month)
Cash: $720K
Runway: 8 months (Burn Rate: $90K/month)
Gross Margin: 72%

Use a horizontal card layout, with each KPI inside a distinct card featuring:

Metric name
Value
Small trend icon (e.g. arrow or sparkline)
Optional comparison where relevant (e.g., +8% MoM)

Design elements:

Top-left: Acme Co. logo (navy and orange)
Top bar: Label “Monthly Finance Dashboard – April 2025”
Colors: Use navy for text/headings, orange for icons and trend highlights, white background, and soft gray card shadows.
Typography: Modern sans-serif fonts
Spacing: Consistent padding and white space for clarity
Layout: Balanced and highly legible; feel like a real finance team dashboard

Result:

Final Tip: Want the same look every month? After ChatGPT returns the graphic, just say, “Great, keep this layout — next month update the numbers only.”

Here you see that this new image generation tool isn’t just to create funny pictures, it can become your own designer and give you a real advantage compare to your peers if you use my prompts and framework.

Start experimenting now, and share with me the results!

Best,
Your AI Finance Coach, Nicolas
